You know you want to tune in to this one! With festival season in full effect, we have been doing some research and making plans – we just could not contain our excitement and had to share with our modern family. Read on for our take on our Top 5 Must-Do Music Festivals for this year.
2017 Line Up: Muse, Arcade Fire, Lorde, Blink 182, Foster the People, The Shins, Gramatik. Heard enough? Us too! The multi-genre aspect of Lollapalooza is a plus. In addition to its long history of creating those aha moments for musicians, it includes platforms for comedians, political speakers, and non-profit artists. This is what makes Lollapalooza more than just the typical "festy-head" music festival.
4) Coachella Festival
A big knotch on the festival belt – Coachella has become a highly anticipated festival each year. In part due to its location in the Indio desert, Coachella is attended by many Los Angeles celebrities and the latest electronic music artists, making it a trendy scene for both music and fashion. Many say that half of the show at Coachella is the stages themselves, because of the extremely high level of artistry and production that goes into them. Coachella is no doubt, one for the books.
3) South by Southwest
South by Southwest is truly unique, not your typical head-banger festival. Rather, SXSW is about bringing creative individuals together and helping them to achieve their goals. The focus is on interactive, film, and music, and has a much more professional atmosphere with many different networking opportunities. You never know what can happen when you bring a bunch of creatives together!
2) Austin City Limits
Our home away from home, Austin City Limits. As long time ACL participants, we cannot recommend ACL strongly enough! If music is the priority, then get on a bus to Austin now! Besides the music, ACL has the BEST festival food, local artisans, and everything from the event is recycled or composted. With headliners last year the likes of Mumford & Sons, Major Lazer, LCD Soundsystem, Radiohead, and Band of Horses, we are confident that 2017 will not disappoint.
1) Burning Man
Welcome home to Black Rock City. If you're really looking to get out of dodge, then Burning Man is for you. Gather with 65,000 people in the middle of Nevada's Black Rock Desert for giant, disproportionate art installations, monster machine art cars, and louder than life music shows. Founded by 10 Principles, Burning Man is dedicated to self-reliance, self-expression, art, and community, and is considered home to many.
These are our Top 5 Must-Do Music Festivals for the next year, and we're marking our calendar (and saving our pennies). Has anyone been to any of these? How did it go? Comment to tell us your Top 5. Hope to see you all at one of these festivals this year!
